MINISTERS
CORNER
Thank
God for spring! I am happy to report that the Center is doing well. We are
getting more and more angels that lift the burden from Kay and I, so we can do
our ministerial duties. Easter was a blessing. I performed a baptism and we
welcomed Jim Sandy into our church. We look forward to a long relationship with
him in Christ. The flowers in our flowerbed still needs some work, however,
early spring has been very cold. We will be ready when it warms up. We put out
a special thank you for the love offerings and support that we receive each
month. It helps our ministry be available to others. Last month, we were able
to help with medicine, food, and help to fire victim. The young people of the
church are forming a musical combo under the direction of Marion, our pianist.
I will keep you informed of the progress of these musicians. I know it is my
very nature to give from the goodness of God that fills my life and that I
cannot out give God. I also know that before giving I must seek the answer
through prayer. When I give quiet moments to God in communion the answer comes
to me. I know that anytime I feel caught up in confusion about events or
circumstances, I remember that I have options. One is to let go and let God. As
I let go and let God, He helps me move through any situation. I know and I
thank God that I now serve several roles in this life, which are as spouse,
friend, parent and minister. I am grateful to be God’s Love in expression
toward others. Your servant, Rev. Ken
What a wonderful month April is! The flowers are blooming and new sprouts are coming up out of the earth. The trees are budding and some have already flowered and are dropping their blossoms. Spring is definitely here. The whole world seems filled with hope as the winter leaves and the springtime comes forth. I am looking forward to the birds returning to the feeders and the birdhouses. We are so excited that the young and the young at heart musicians are going to have their first practice together on April 5th. We are looking forward to some outstanding music for church. We have a violinist, French horn musician, flautist, guitar player, keyboard artist, maybe a trumpet player and drummer. It should be great fun. We are looking forward to their first performance. Happy Birthday to all those with April Birthdays, Allison Woodruff on the 2nd and Rev Marie on the 23rd and to any others I am not aware of. Thank God for the seasons of life. Every day is a time of renewal and hope in Christ. There are not enough words to convey the strength, courage, faith, etc that comes when we align ourselves with God’s will. It is unfathomable how much He loves us. I lift up those on the prayer list and I also offer prayers for the three newest ones, Margaret Barbo, Roberta Gherkin and Stephanie Mushatt. May the healing hand of God rest on you for complete healing. Love in God’s service, Rev. Kay

POETRY CORNER
There’s a bit of good in the worst of us,
There’s a bid of bad in the best of us,
It ill behooves any of us,
To find fault in the rest of us.

The
Story of Stone Soup
Once upon a time, somewhere in post-war Eastern Europe, there was a great famine in which people jealously hoarded whatever food they could find, hiding it even from their friends and neighbors. One day a wandering soldier came into a village and began asking questions as if he planned to stay for the night. "There's not a bite to eat in the whole province," he was told. "Better keep moving on." "Oh, I have everything I need," he said. "In fact, I was thinking of making some stone soup to share with all of you." He pulled an iron cauldron from his wagon, filled it with water, and built a fire under it. Then, with great ceremony, he drew an ordinary-looking stone from a velvet bag and dropped it into the water. By now, hearing the rumor of food, most of the villagers had come to the square or watched from their windows. As the soldier sniffed the "broth" and licked his lips in anticipation, hunger began to overcome their skepticism. "Ahh," the soldier said to himself rather loudly, "I do like a tasty stone soup. Of course, stone soup with cabbage -- that's hard to beat." Soon a villager approached hesitantly, holding a cabbage he'd retrieved from its hiding place, and added it to the pot. "Capital!" cried the soldier. "You know, I once had stone soup with cabbage and a bit of salt beef as well, and it was fit for a king." The village butcher managed to find some salt beef . . . and so it went, through potatoes, onions, carrots, mushrooms, and so on, until there was indeed a delicious meal for all. The villagers offered the soldier a great deal of money for the magic stone, but he refused to sell and traveled on the next day. The moral is that by working together, with everyone contributing what they can, a greater good is achieved.
