February 2009

     MINISTERS CORNER

Revs. Ken and Kay Leppell

Welcome to the month of Love! Just as I watched the leaves fall in September, now I get to watch the leaves begin to renew in February. I can connect with all the new energy. We get to respond with nature and God’s perfect pattern. Like the church, we change and renew. The Board of Directors is open to all new ideas. Please come and share at our meetings. Plans are being made for an Easter cantata. We are looking for donations of decorating items for the church. Please let us know if you need healing prayers for a friend or yourself. I especially thank those who continue to support the church by mail for the newsletters and in person. How blessed we are to have you in our lives. Our membership and attendance in the church, has increased by 40% from last year. “Build it and they will come.” I know enduring, unconditional love is at the core of every person just waiting to be expressed. I see love in the exuberance of a child, in the trust of a pet, in the tenderness of two people who have spent the lives together. God’s love moves from the center of our being. God is Love – and that love is expressing within us and as us. In this time of our love for all things that are good, don’t forget, “You are not here by accident, you are here by Divine Order!” Thank you for being part of the ministry.

Your servant, Rev. Ken

February the month of love is here! February is a promise that spring is returning. By the time February comes, we can take a deep breath and thank God for His plan for nature. As we study the Bible, I am struck by the enormity of God’s love. I have been in awe of the love and grace God has bestowed on my family and me. It humbles my spirit to be aware of the forgiveness God gives us, when we begin to forgive others. Gratitude for God’s blessings and thanking Him increases the wonderment of such love. Wanting to do our best for God is a noble discipline of Christians. For only by doing our best in all areas of our lives and being available when others are in need, is doing for God Himself. It is written-Do this for the least of these, you do this unto Me. I am excited about our Bible Study class on Sundays before church. It has grown from 3 people to 6 participants. What a great turnout for the Burning Bowl ceremony! We had almost 35 people attending. Thank you all for coming. We are looking ahead to new activities and services. My prayer for you is that Love is expressed every day in your life and that you pass it on!

Love in God’s service, Rev. Kay

POETRY CORNER

Sudden Sunlight

Did you ever walk through

The deep, dark woods,

Where the sunbeams never shine,

And the birdless gloom

brings a sense of doom

That shudders along your spine?

Did your spirit sing and your heart beat fast

While you felt like a creature at bay

Till a sudden shaft of sunlight turned

The night of the woods to day?

Such is the secret of life, my friend.

It can seem to be darker than night

Till you open your heart and let Him in,

Then suddenly it is Light!

Traces of the Infinite

Was that a shooting star I saw

There on the horizon

Or a momentary glimpse

Of the sweeping hand of God,

Leaving in its wake

Traces of the infinite?

Sometimes I think I see

That same hand at work

Within our lives

When doubt grows into faith

And blossoms into love,

Leaving trails of stardust

In our hearts.
