MINISTERS CORNER

Revs. Ken and Kay

MINISTER’S CORNER
Here
we are at Harvest time again. At the Center, we are looking forward to Fall.
Last month, the fishing was excellent in the Puyallup River. As a result, those
who wanted smoked salmon were able to have their fill. A big thank you to all
the fishermen and women who donated fish to share with others. Our attendance
has been down, but now that summer is over, we expect that things will settle
down and we will be back to normal. At the board meeting, we decided to have a
Harvest Festival on the 25th of October. Once again, a special thank
you to those who support our newsletter and our flower garden by the front
door. Thank you for your love offerings; they keep the newsletter and the doors
open. We could not do this without God’s help and your support. Our prayer list
is growing, as we all know that prayer works! Know that we are here for you! We
know that the life we live everyday is our unique and individual expression of
God’s love. With the life of the Christ as an example, we serve and we love.
We, at the Center, know that we are centered in God’s love. We give to this
life through our loving actions. I know that we are right where we are suppose
to be, doing what we need to do for you.
Today,
Faith assures me, so that I accept each change for what it is – a new
beginning. As I start out each day, I thank God for a new beginning. By doing
this over and over, my strength becomes ever greater to receive the Grace
needed to walk in the sunlight of the Spirit. This can be yours too, just by a
simple act or thought – each day is a new beginning. In God’s service, Rev. Ken
First of all, I wish to thank God and all of the people who stepped in, when I was unable to fulfill my obligations at church, while I was dealing with the worst of the back problem, Rev. Ken, Rachel Denney, Andrew Phillips, Ron Denney and everyone who took upon themselves to help in whatever manner they could help. If that isn’t walking with the Lord, I do not know what is. I love you all. Thank you for your prayers! God does have His way of putting the right people together. How powerful is His works in His church.
What a beautiful summer we have had! It looks like there may be a chance for a lovely Indian summer. The church members are looking ahead to the holidays. We are going to have a Harvest party, complete with bobbing for apples and pumpkin painting for the younger children – the adults can offer advice. We are looking forward to all of the traditional times we have of getting together and helping the less fortunate this year. Christ said, do this for the least of these and you have done the same to me. Feeding the hungry, clothing those who have nothing, visiting the sick and visiting those who are incarcerated. Many times I have thought that we humans do not have to be behind bars to be incarcerated. Examining our lives, how have we become incarcerated in our minds or our way of life? For me, any time I put my selfish needs or errant ways first, before our Lord, I have enslaved myself to “BG”* living. I turn away from the best friend in my life, and then become enslaved by my bad choices. *(Before God)
I have heard many people say, ”I just can’t seem to break free from that type of thinking, doing, acting or feeling.” Why do we have to break free if we aren’t really incarcerated? Today, I am free within my dependence on the Lord. I have no chains that bind me and no limits on blessings and grace from God. Enjoy your life! God will take care of the hard stuff as we have faith and belief in Him. May God bless each one of us and may we have our eyes open to see the miracles. Come join us at church, everyone is welcome. Love is God’s work. Love, Rev. Kay

POETRY CORNER
Do you need Me? I am there
Do you need Me? I am there.
You cannot see Me, yet I am the light you see by
You cannot hear Me, yet I speak through your voice.
You cannot feel Me, Yet I am the power at work in your hands
I am at work, though you do not understand My ways.
I am at work, though you do not recognize My works
I am not strange visions. I am not mysteries.
Only in absolute stillness, beyond self,
Can you know Me as I am,
And then but as a feeling and a faith.
Yet I am there. Yet I am here. Yet I answer.
When you need Me, I am there.
Even if you deny Me, I am there.
Even when you feel most alone, I am there.
Even in your fears, I am there.
Even in your pain, I am there.
I am there when you pray and when you do not pray
Though your faith In Me is unsure,
My faith in you never wavers,
Because I know you, because I love you.
Beloved I am
there.
